Bio & Overview

Kaitlyn Crotty, NP, AG-ACNP, is a nurse practitioner specializing in metabolic and bariatric surgery in UVA's Department of Surgery.

She joined UVA as a registered nurse in the surgical intermediate unit in 2017. She’s also been a nurse on the surgical trauma ICU since 2019.

"Every patient is on their own journey, and I am here to support them however I can," Kaitlyn says."I want my patients to feel safe and know that I am advocating for them."

A lifelong Virginian, Kaitlyn has called Charlottesville home since 2014. Her experience caring for her grandmothers, both of whom were formerly nurses, inspired her to follow in their footsteps.

She first earned both a master's degree in nursing and a certificate in clinical nurse leadership from the University of Virginia. More recently, she completed UVA's Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP master's program.

In her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her husband and their family and friends.

The provider was very kind and was trying to be helpful. I think I was expecting next steps from my initial provider after doing several tests since January and I was unable to get that information on this visit. I have to travel almost 2 hours for visits and what happened in this visit could have been virtual.

Kaitlyn neglected to mention the monitoring during my surgery, so when I got the call about it two days later, I was in the dark. There should be a checklist the nurses follow at these appointments.
