Highlights
Nurse Practitioner Karen Lohr
My name is Karen Lohr, and I'm an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, and I work here in the neurosurgery department at UVA. I was just attracted to the range of patients that they have. There's patients having just simple spine surgeries, patients having complex brain tumors removed. A lot of patients that we see come in for neck pain or back pain, and so a lot of times I'm the first person that they're seeing at their initial visit. One of the things that I find most rewarding is interacting with the patients and seeing their response to me. So when I see them in the hospital after their surgery, "Thanks for coming to see me!" Just the patients giving kind of that feedback to us that we've made an impact on their life.
