Kate E Becker, CNM

Kate Becker, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. She is a founding member of the UVA Health Midwifery Service and has served as the Midwifery Division director since 2020.

She holds an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College, and a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School, both in the field of religious studies. She came to midwifery as a second career, and completed her BSN and MSN at the University of Pennsylvania. As a National Health Service Corps Scholar, she started her career providing care to underserved communities in Florida before relocating to Virginia.

Kate loves providing prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care to a wide variety of patients. She is truly passionate about patient education and empowerment. She is also a strong advocate for the profession of midwifery on the local, state, and national levels. She serves as the president of the Virginia Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives.
