Kenneth V Leone, MD

Kenneth V. Leone, MD, is a clinical associate professor and head of the Division of General Neurology and Headache. He has been on faculty at UVA since 2008. His clinical focus is evaluating and managing patients with headache and facial pain disorders. “As a migraine sufferer myself, I find it both challenging and rewarding to improve the quality of life for patients with this disorder in particular,” says Dr. Leone. Dr. Leone also sees general neurology and headache patients with advanced practice providers, trainees, and medical students in the UVA Adult Neurology Clinic.

Dr. Leone was born and raised in New Jersey, but he has spent the majority of his life in the south. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He attended medical school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Leone then spent the following five years at UVA completing his internship, residency, and fellowship in the departments of medicine and neurology.

After completing his medical training, Dr. Leone entered private practice in Savannah, Georgia, and he previously held an appointment as clinical assistant professor of medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Leone is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Headache Society, and the Medical Society of Virginia. When he is not at work, he enjoys music, the great outdoors, and a good dark beer with friends.
