Bio & Overview
Keri Johnson, MSN, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who works with stroke patients as part of the UVA stroke team. Originally from Winchester, Johnson attended the UVA School of Nursing from 2008 to 2012. Her first exposure to stroke care was a nursing position at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, working on a neurotelemetry and stroke intermediate care unit.
After three years as a bedside nurse, Johnson decided to take her training to the next level. She attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and then returned to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a nurse practitioner for three years at MedStar Washington Hospital Center before coming back to her alma mater, UVA.
In her free time Johnson enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, reading, exercising and spending time outdoors. She volunteered with an organization serving the city’s homeless population while living in D.C., and she hopes to find a similar opportunity in Charlottesville.
