Kimary Schatten, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife who provides prenatal and postpartum care, family planning, and well woman care.

“Women know their bodies best. I'm here to partner with patients in their health and work together to help them live their best lives,” she says. “I try to meet women where they are in their current lives and find a plan through shared decision making as much as possible.”

She grew up in Florida and studied biology at Queens College in Charlotte, NC. She served in the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa, for two years. 

Kimary earned her undergraduate nursing degree and master’s in nursing from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. She also received a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she studied how midwives improve birth outcomes across the world. 

After providing full scope midwifery care in Atlanta for 5 years, delivering over 500 babies, Kimary worked for 10 years in rural community health center in Rockbridge County.
