Highlights
Kirsten Greene, MD
My name's Kirsten Greene and I'm chair of the department of urology at the University of Virginia. I'm a urologic oncologist and I focus on minimally invasive surgery. So what that means is I see patients who are being evaluated for cancer of the bladder, prostate, the kidneys, the urethra, the testicles, the penis. During my residency, robotic surgery was being developed and then became more widespread. And that's one of my focuses now. I've always wanted to be a surgeon. I like working with my hands and I like the idea of being able to solve a problem or fix a particular situation. And that was always very appealing to me and working with patients is just wonderful. I have the most wonderful patients and that's what really keeps me going every day. They can see me at two different locations. One is that the Emily Couric Cancer Center and one is at our Fontaine location. We have a wonderful welcoming staff who are going to help make the experience as comfortable as possible. UVA offers the best care available. This is a top medical center. We have cutting-edge technology. And we have fantastic physicians, fantastic nurses, amazing students. Everyone here is the best. It's about how can we help this patient and how can we help this family. And I think that's really unique. And it's really special. And this is such a wonderful place to come and get care.
