Highlights
Meet Laura Parsons, MD
My name's Laura Parsons, and I am a general OB-GYN at UVA Health. I see patients that are pregnant, that are delivering, that are postpartum, and I also take care of women at different ages for their different medical issues related to gynecology. So I chose OB-GYN because I have a background in public health. And during my work in public health, I stumbled on a common thread, which was women, and advocating for women, listening to women and taking care of women was something that I found to be very valuable. When I see a new patient, my first goal is to listen. I think that listening, learning about who they are, where they're coming from, if a patient has a goal for me to meet them where they are with that goal. And I think in order to have a meaningful and productive experience that we need to share those goals. I think someone should choose UVA Health for their healthcare because it all boils down to trust. And I have a deep trust for all of the physicians, the nurses, and the staff that I work with every day. I know that we all come to work with a goal of making people's lives better. That trust that I place in the system is what sets us apart.
