Bio & Overview

As a family medicine specialist, L. Trice Gravatte IV, MD, provides care to patients of all ages, from infants to adults.

Passionate about public health, he has expertise in women’s health and enjoys educating patients about prevention and wellness. He also has extensive experience caring for patients with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

As a lifelong Virginian, Dr. Gravatte answered a calling to the specialty of family medicine. The opportunity to serve patients where they are and connect with their families drives him still today.

“It is rewarding to know each child, parent, and senior in the same family,” Dr. Gravatte says.

“I look at my role as an educator, advocate, advisor, and a friend to people and families as they go through life.”

After earning a bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from UVA, Dr. Gravatte earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia (now the VCU School of Medicine). He completed his residency at the University of South Carolina’s Richland Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Gravatte has practiced community-based family medicine with hospital privileges since 1988. He also has taught medical students since the 1980s. Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Gravatte strives to offer the most advanced diagnostic tools and therapies available.

“I love what I do and go to great lengths to keep learning best practices,” Dr. Gravatte says.

Outside of work, Dr. Gravatte enjoys spending time with his wife, as well as their children and grandchildren. In addition to spending time outdoors, Dr. Gravatte enjoys UVA basketball games, football games, fly fishing, hiking, and downhill skiing.

Have already recommended the clinic to colleagues. A delightful visit all around. (Writing this reminds me of whoever rated my county's landfill as "fun for the whole family" -- not really a place you'd expect to be delightful but it really was.)
