Lisa A Irvine, MD
Pediatrics
Bio & Overview
Lisa Irvine, MD, is a primary care pediatrician whose clinical interests include care for medically complex patients, child behavior and development, and teen wellness.
“I love to engage kids in their own healthcare,” she says. “Once they are old enough, I will ask them questions directly seeking clarification from the parent as needed. This helps to build a relationship with the patient, not just the parent, so that by the time the patient is a teenager, they are capable and confident in managing their own health.”
Irvine was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but spent most of her childhood in Centerville, a small town in Ohio. She participated in the Medical Scientist Training Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, simultaneously earning her medical degree and a PhD in biomedical engineering. She also completed her pediatric residency and internship at Johns Hopkins.
She has more than 20 years of experience as a pediatrician in Northern Virginia, including more than 14 years as the founder and owner of a solo pediatric practice.
Irvine is married and has two college age children. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, taking walks along the beach, and hiking in the mountains.
