Bio & Overview

Lori Grove, Ph.D., CCC-A is a Virginia native, growing up in the rural southwestern region of the state. She has an undergraduate degree in communication sciences & disorders from Radford University and earned her doctorate of audiology from James Madison University. Dr. Grove joined the Audiology Division after completing her degree in 2006 and has been fortunate to spend her career at UVA specializing in cochlear implants for patients of all ages.

With nearly 20 years of experience, Dr. Grove has had the privilege of supporting countless patients along their hearing journey. Throughout her career, she has witnessed considerable technological advancement and innovation that has enhanced patient performance outcomes, improved quality of life, and transformed the lives of patients with significant hearing loss. In addition to cochlear implants, Dr. Grove's clinical interests also include diagnostic audiologic evaluations, auditory evoked potentials, and intraoperative monitoring.

Dr. Grove also has strong interest in clinical education and mentorship. She was the Coordinator of the Clinical Fellowship program for nine years where she served as the primary preceptor for audiology graduate students during their final year of clinical training. After 14 years of service this clinic, Dr. Grove became Director of the Audiology and Vestibular & Balance Center and is proud to lead an incredibly talented and compassionate team of audiologists.

Outside of work, Dr. Grove enjoys spending time with her family, attending her sons' sporting events, and working on the family Christmas tree farm.
