Ludimila Cavalcante, MD, is an oncologist who specializes in treating sarcoma and melanoma and conducting early-phase clinical trials. She is the director of Sarcoma Medical Oncology, associate director of Developmental Therapeutics, and a member of the Protocol Review Committee.
Dr. Cavalcante was born in Brazil, spent her early childhood in Venezuela, and attended high school in South Florida.
After attending the University of California, Los Angeles, she completed medical school at Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio Janeiro in Brazil. She completed oncology training at the University of Wisconsin and a developmental therapeutics fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago.
She was previously the medical director of early phase developmental therapeutics at Emory University in Atlanta and has industry experience in early drug development. Dr. Cavalcante is the author of dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles and other publications.
