Bio & Overview
Marjorie Olivari, MD, is a family medicine physician at Primary and Specialty Care Zion Crossroads who helps people in all stages of life be as healthy and active as possible. She has a specific interest in helping older adults remain independent and stay in their communities as they age.
“Patients need to feel heard and that means I need to be an attentive listener,” she says. “I want to understand their needs and goals and support them in being healthy.”
Dr. Olivari attended medical school at Tufts University in Boston. Her medical school rotations in family medicine and pediatric community practices led her to complete a family medicine residency at the University of Rochester. She worked at a family medicine practice in Rochester before moving to a small coastal town in Maine to run a practice for 28 years. She also supervised the student health clinic at the Maine Maritime Academy. As the local family doctor, she served as the school physician, was the medical director for first responders, and provided medical support for the local childcare center.
She grew up in a small town in southern New Jersey, where she developed a love of reading about science. She initially considered studying law. But after working on a project about memory issues in older adults, she chose to pursue medicine.
Dr. Olivari is committed to helping her patients navigate the healthcare system. “It can be intimidating, especially when you are under stress,” she says. “I want patients to feel comfortable asking questions and getting help if they’re confused or overwhelmed.”
