Neurology - Neuropsychology
Bio & Overview
Melanie Ventura, PsyD, is a neuropsychologist who conducts neurological assessments for:
- Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias
- Frontotemporal dementia (FTD)
- Huntington’s disease
- Lewy body disease
- Mild cognitive impairment
- Vascular cognitive impairment
She also provides:
- Assessment and care for Spanish-speaking and bilingual adults
- Caregiver-centered care for families navigating a dementia diagnosis
- Multidisciplinary clinical care for memory and aging
- Pre- and post-surgical evaluation for deep brain stimulation (DBS)
“My path into neuropsychology started with my grandmother. She was diagnosed with dementia, and my family struggled to get her the care she needed,” Dr. Ventura says. “That gap between what she deserved and what she actually received is what drew me into this field.”
She earned her doctor of psychology from Widener University. Her clinical training included a clinical neuropsychology postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Virginia
“I know how disorienting a cognitive change can feel, both for the person experiencing it and for the family around them, because I watched that happen in my own family,” she says. “I build my practice around clear, plain-language communication, so patients and families understand what's happening and what comes next, not just a stack of test scores.”
