Mohamed Tiouririne, MD, is an anesthesiologist and OB/GYN with dual appointments in the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
His expertise includes, general anesthesiology, obstetric anesthesiology, and critical care medicine.
His clinical interests extend beyond labor and delivery and encompass critical care medicine, with a specific focus on maternal critical care. He is the medical director of the surgical admission suite and Post Anesthesia Care Unit at UVA Medical Center.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Tiouririne served as the director of obstetric anesthesiology for many years. He also played a leading part in establishing the Society of Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology recommendations for enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) for Cesarean section.
Dr. Tiouririne obtained his medical degree from the University of Algiers School of Medicine in Algeria. He completed his anesthesiology residency training and a fellowship in obstetric anesthesia at the University of Texas.
