Highlights
Dr. Monica Lawrence Video Profile
Hi, Monica Lawrence allergist and clinical immunologist. As a clinical immunologist my patients are patients who are struggling with recurrent infections or immune dysregulation which means that your immune system doesn't have the ability to normally control the inflammatory response that normally occurs in response to infection or inflammation. What I do as a clinical immunologist is help determine if there could be an underlying reason that a patient has recurrent infections or immune dysregulation and then how we can best treat them. The thing that I'm most known for is my care of patients with either known or suspected primary immune deficiency. I would say I'm most passionate about helping patients often times who haven't had an answer and have been struggling often times for many years and have gone to many different doctor. One thing that I love is being able to sit down with a patient hear their story look at the records that they have the laboratory testing the radiology sometimes genetic testing and then try to put it all together kinda make that puzzle pieces all fit. I think someone should choose UVA for the care of their immune deficiency because what we offer is a whole comprehensive approach to your care. We have the most up-to-date information about diseases and treatments and so we can offer that to patients as soon as they are available.
