Bio & Overview
Patricia Rodriguez-Lozano, MD, MS, is the director of the Women’s Heart Health Care Program. She also serves as associate director of the cardiovascular fellowship program.
Under the leadership of Dr. Rodriguez-Lozano, the women's heart program focuses on personalized, integrated care through a multidisciplinary team of experts. The program includes:
- Clinics focusing on women’s health
- Spontaneous coronary artery dissection
- Coronary microvascular disease
- Cardiovascular disease in pregnancy
Dr. Rodriguez-Lozano’s research is advancing the understanding of women’s heart health. She leads projects to develop a new treatment for ischemia with non-obstructive coronary disease in women. Funders for the projects include the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Rodriguez-Lozano attended medical school at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. She completed her internal medicine residency training and a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
She also completed a cardiovascular imaging fellowship and a master of science in clinical research at UVA Health.
Her career was shaped by her upbringing in Peru, where she witnessed healthcare disparities firsthand, and her involvement in research and leadership roles throughout her medical training.
“I am deeply passionate about advancing women’s heart health and bridging the gap in cardiovascular care disparities,” she says. “Through my research and clinical initiatives, I strive to improve outcomes for women with heart disease, empowering them with knowledge and resources to lead heart-healthy lives.”
