Bio & Overview
Dr. Katzenstein is board-certified in rheumatology and a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. His clinical research interests are in auto-inflammation and translation of molecular genetic discoveries to clinical disease understanding.
Dr. Katzenstein grew up in Baltimore and completed his undergraduate study at Macalester College. He earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland, completed his internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and his rheumatology fellowship at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University. He was a clinical and research faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center, then moved to private practice in Kansas City. He joined the UVA faculty in 2017.
Dr. Katzenstein is a life-long swimmer and enjoys daily exercise. He has three adult children and loves Charlottesville and the surrounding countryside.
