Highlights
Dr. Peter Hallowell profile video
My name is Peter Hallowell, and I'm a minimally invasive and bariatric surgeon. I typically see patients who are severely overweight and need help in losing weight. The doctors, the nurses, the dietitians, the support staff that UVA has are all world class. Folks come to us to learn how to take care of these problems as well as to be taken care of. When you look at taking care of patients in bariatric surgery, the ability to really help them overcome a serious medical problem-- losing weight, controlling their health problems, getting rid of diabetes, high blood pressure-- it's one of the areas of medicine in surgery where we really can make a difference. When a patient comes back to see us after we've operated on them, the joy that they have is just really infectious.
