Highlights
Nurse Practitioner Becky Compton, DNP
My name is Becky Compton. I'm a family nurse practitioner and I work in the UVA family medicine clinic seeing patients of all ages. I also get to provide care in our refugee care clinic. I'm known for women's healthcare, do a lot of IUD placements, endometrial biopsies, colposcopies, Nexplanon placements. I knew in sixth grade that I wanted to become some type of healthcare provider and I chose the route of nurse first, knew then shortly into nursing school that I wanted to do a bit more and be able to provide my care a bit more autonomously. So I became a nurse practitioner. I am very passionate about ensuring that our healthcare system is focused on patient care needs. We are very privileged to work in a very large health system where we have access to multiple specialties. However, unfortunately in our nation we are seeing a crisis in access to healthcare. And I want to make sure that we can remove those barriers and all patients can get the care that they need. I get my satisfaction actually doing the face-to-face time with patients, being in the room, being able to if they need it hold their hand, just communicate with them, listening to them and being able to partner with them on life's journey.
