Bio & Overview
As a pediatric nurse practitioner, Sarah Bonfiglio cares for children from birth through age 21. In addition to providing well-child checks, she helps her patients and their families manage acute and minor illnesses, behavioral health, and chronic conditions.
Before working in a primary care setting, Sarah spent six years caring for hospitalized acutely ill children.
“I am passionate about caring for children with chronic health conditions, who require complex medical care. I also have a strong interest in hematology/oncology, as well as child mental health,” she shares.
“My favorite part of primary care is the opportunity to develop lifelong relationships with children and their families.”
Sarah was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Growing up with her older sister of 18 months, she had a “built-in best friend.” After attending Catholic school for 12 years, Sarah earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology at Kutztown University.
She planned to become a doctor but after a change of heart, Sarah went on to complete an accelerated BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree from Moravian University. She moved to Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017 to begin her nursing career with UVA Health Pediatrics. She continued working while completing her MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) at University of Virginia.
In her free time, Sarah likes to travel, hangout with her “fur babies,” and read a good book. Her favorite international trip was to Australia where she had the opportunity to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. She makes frequent trips to Pennsylvania to see family.
