Highlights
Dr. Thomas L'Ecuyer profile video
- My name is Tom L'Ecuyer. I'm a physician. I'm a professor of pediatrics, director of the Pediatric Heart Transplant Program, the Heart Failure Program at the University of Virginia, and director of the Division of Cardiology. I don't like childhood disease. I like the children. I like taking care of them. They didn't cause their disease. I like working with young families because they have challenges, and when they're worried about their child and you can allay their fears or help them to direct them towards becoming a healthier child. It gives me a tremendous reward. To me, cardiology offers the combination of taking care of very sick kids at their moment of greatest need and then also having the chance to see them when they become healthy and to follow them over time. The reason that you should consider bringing your child to UVA, if your child has a heart problem, is because of the quality teamwork that your child will receive during their stay here. We've got outstanding surgical treatment with outcomes that are competitive with the very best institutions in the country. We all love what we do. The teams work together to achieve the best possible results. We love doing this, and we love to be able to have the opportunity to provide it for your child if he or she requires heart care.
