Yazan Abu Orabi Al-Adwan, MD, is a liver, kidney and pancreas transplant surgeon at UVA Health.
Born and raised in Irbid, Jordan, he knew he wanted to be a doctor from an early age.
“My passion is helping people and changing people’s lives,” he shares. “I work to listen and hear their complaints, feel their pain, show sympathy, and give my best explanation of the treatment plan.”
Dr. Al-Adwan earned his medical degree at Jordan University of Science and Technology. He completed a general surgery residency at King Abdullah University Hospital.
He served as a general surgeon for Doctors Without Borders for 2 years before working at Hashemite University in Jordan.
He then completed fellowship training in abdominal transplant surgery and advanced liver transplant surgery at The Ohio State University.
