Bio & Overview
Rohini Bhole, MD, MS, is a fellowship-trained vascular neurologist, who specializes in caring for patients who have a stroke. During a stroke emergency, Dr. Bhole helps quickly diagnose the type of stroke and decide the best treatment. In addition, she helps her patients manage:
- Secondary stroke prevention
- Stroke risk factors control like high blood pressure
- Stroke rehabilitation
“I play an important role in addressing significant health disparity in the region by promoting timely evidence-based care of stroke,” Dr. Bhole says.
Before joining the UVA faculty in 2022, Dr. Bhole was an assistant and then an associate professor in the Department of Neurology at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She completed fellowship training in vascular neurology at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She completed her residency training in neurology at Hahnemann University Hospital/Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
She also completed and achieved a master of science (MS) degree in epidemiology at the University of Tennessee.
“I am passionate about providing the most advanced and evidence-based stroke care to my patients,” she states.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Bhole conducts research focused on:
- Stroke treatment (stroke thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy)
- Diagnosis (echo-cardiography and brain CT imaging)
- Recovery (novel rehabilitation approaches)
She shares, “I designed and conducted an investigator-initiated clinical trial in this area. My current interest is to continue developing clinical trials, multidisciplinary collaborations, and research.”
