Bio & Overview
Zachary Henry, MD, was born and raised in Alabama and attended Auburn University for undergraduate studies. Dr. Henry went to medical school at the University of South Alabama and then moved to Charlottesville. There he completed medical residency, gastroenterology fellowship, and transplant hepatology fellowship at UVA.
He joined the faculty in 2015 and specialize in hepatology and transplant hepatology. Dr. Henry sees patients with all varieties of liver disease in the Digestive Health Center and the Charles O. Strickler Transplant Center. In addition, he sees patients in a specific clinic for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis that focuses on lifestyle interventions for patients with advanced disease. He also performs specialty endoscopic procedures to manage gastric and ectopic varices, both rare conditions related to portal hypertension. His research interests focus on prognosis and management of gastric and ectopic varices as well as lifestyle interventions in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and quality improvement for patients with cirrhosis.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing soccer, hiking, playing music, and woodworking.
