Drug Take-Back Program

Don't throw away or flush your outdated or unwanted medication as it comes with potential risks. Instead, use the drug take-back program at UVA to safely dispose of your medications.

The take-back bins are green metal boxes with a drawer at the top located in the pharmacy. Once the bin is full, pharmacy employees will remove the medications from the box and have them destroyed by an outside processor.

Refills and Payments

Refill Requests

The Specialty Pharmacy can arrange to have your medications mailed to you.

You can request prescription refills and transfers online or MyChart. Automatic refills are available for most prescriptions. Those being mailed aren't available automatically.

Text alerts for prescriptions and refills are available.

Payments

At this time, all UVA pharmacies are not accepting cash or checks. Credit and debit cards are the only accepted payment method.

If you only have cash available, we'll discuss later billing and other payment options with you.
