Highlights
Cardiologist Amit Patel, MD
Hi, I'm Amit Patel. I'm a cardiologist here at University of Virginia. In the cardiology clinic, I see patients with all sorts of heart diseases. My particular area of interest revolves around the use of advanced cardiac imaging tests, such as cardiac MRI and cardiac CT imaging. When a patient comes to see me for the first time, I like to spend a significant amount of time getting to know them. I'd like to know who are their family, what's important to them. And really try to understand what their goals are with regards to treating their disease. Beyond that, in cardiology, we have the opportunity to really look at very high-end technology, such as using MRI machines and CT scanners. And what's particularly exciting is that if you can figure out what's going on with the patient, chances are you can find a specific treatment that really can be targeted to help the patient feel better.
