Bio & Overview

David Joyner, MD, is a diagnostic neuroradiologist whose focus is interpreting images of the head, neck and spine of both adult and pediatric patients. He has a particular interest in pediatric neuroradiology and functional neuroimaging techniques.

Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Joyner received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from North Carolina State University and attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed diagnostic radiology residency training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center before moving to Charlottesville to pursue a neuroradiology fellowship at UVA. After several years working as an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi, Joyner returned to UVA as a faculty member.

Outside of work, Joyner enjoys spending time with his wife, son and two dogs.
