Bio & Overview
Dr. Pierce has served as the chief of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound since joining the faculty in 2013. She supervises the increasing number of diverse ultrasound examinations, therapeutic procedures and injections for pain in the Musculoskeletal Division. Dr. Pierce is passionate about providing excellent patient care and customer service to both patients and referring clinicians. Her clinical and research interests include ultrasound-guided tendon interventions for treating tendon degeneration, hip imaging and global health initiatives. She also is part of an innovative and dedicated musculoskeletal imaging team that provides state of the art comprehensive musculoskeletal radiology services.
In addition to teaching the radiology residents and musculoskeletal radiology fellows, Dr. Pierce is a member of the UVA Medical School Admissions Committee and enjoys teaching musculoskeletal anatomy at the medical school. Also, she leads the global health leadership program for the department of radiology.
Dr. Pierce served over 12 years with the US Navy as a physician. In her spare time, she loves traveling and spending time with her active teenagers and husband.
