Bio & Overview
Joseph Donahue, MD, is a diagnostic radiologist. His clinical expertise includes neuro-oncology imaging, acute stroke imaging, epilepsy, and minimally invasive head and neck biopsies.
Dr. Donahue has devoted a substantial portion of his career to graduate medical education, mentorship, and curriculum development. He served as program director for the diagnostic neuroradiology fellowship from 2020 to 2025 and associate program director for the diagnostic radiology residency from 2021 to 2024. He currently serves as program director for the diagnostic radiology residency. In these roles, he has led initiatives to enhance trainee education, refine curricula, and support the professional development of residents and fellows.
He completed both his diagnostic radiology residency and diagnostic neuroradiology fellowship at UVA. He earned his medical degree from West Virginia University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and completed his clinical internship at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
Dr. Donahue spends his spare time with his family, which includes two young children. He also enjoys the many outdoor opportunities afforded by living in Central Virginia, which includes the occasional mountain ultramarathon and family camping.
