Randomized, Double Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial of the Efficacy and Safety of Intranasal Oxytocin for the Treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder
Study Description

The UVA Center for Leading Edge Addiction Research or CLEAR clinic is seeking men and women ages 21 and older who want to reduce their alcohol consumption to participate in a research study to test the effectiveness of an investigational medication. The purpose of the study is to see if the drug oxytocin is effective in reducing craving for alcohol and, therefore, minimizing or eliminating alcohol usage.
The trial involves 9 in-person visits and 6 telephone interviews over a 20 week period. All study-related exams, tests and investigational medication are given at no cost and compensation for study completion will be provided.
