Study Description

The Department of Neurology Movement Disorders Clinic seeks adults with Parkinson’s disease or parkinsonism for participation in a clinical research database. The purpose of this database is to collect health information that can be used in future studies on Parkinson’s. Future studies will seek to better understand and improve treatment for Parkinson’s. The database will pool health information from a large number of people with Parkinson’s over time. Researchers can then use this data to ask important questions about the characteristics and course of Parkinson’s that would not otherwise be possible.

Participation in this database involves answering questions once a year at the time of a regularly scheduled clinic visit with your UVA neurologist. Participation will add approximately 20 minutes to your clinic visit. In addition, we will provide you with questionnaires that can be completed at home. These questionnaires will take 1-2 hours to complete and will ask about your symptoms, their impact on your life, and how you are thinking, feeling, and behaving.
