Effect of postprandial hyperglycemia on vasculature in DM1 and healthy adults (WBH001)
Study Description

UVA Health System, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology is conducting a clinical research study. We want to learn more about how the effect of elevated blood sugar after eating a meal affects blood vessels and blood flow to the heart. Eligible participants must be 18-35 years, a non-smoker and healthy, or have Type 1 diabetes.
Healthy control participants will have 2 outpatient visits:
- Screening visit (1 hr.)
- 1 Outpatient admission (5 hrs.)
Type 1 participants will have 3 outpatient visits:
- Screen visit (1hr.)
- 2 Outpatient admissions (6 hrs.) spaced 1-3 weeks apart

All visits are during the week, and require blood draws. The study will take approx. 2-3 weeks to complete.

exams and blood labs are provided free of charge.

Compensation

$250 for each admission
