Official Trial Title
Identification of Forensic Body Fluids
Study Description

The UVA Department of Chemistry seeks healthy men and women ages 18 to 64 for a research study. The purpose of the study is to make samples available for experiments to develop faster, better methods for identification of body fluids on forensic evidence.

In a forensic case, determining the body fluid will help with contextual information and reconstruction of the crime. This information, along with other case facts, help to show the true events of the crime. The current methods for identifying body fluids are hands-on, time consuming, somewhat specific, and can be expensive, which leads to longer processing of forensic cases. Enhancing this process can increase productivity, be cost-effective, and improve forensic technology for crime scenes and laboratories.

Study involves a single donation of one or more types of biological fluid.

Study-related donation collection materials provided free of charge.
