UVA Health, Center for Research in Reproduction seeks female volunteers with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), ages 20 - 30 or 40 - 49, for a research study. The purpose of the study is to learn how characteristics of PCOS improve as women with PCOS get older.
You may be eligible for this study if: You have PCOS. Symptoms and signs include irregular menstrual periods, excess hair growth, and high testosterone levels. Participants must not have taken contraceptive pills or hormonal medications for 3 months prior to the study.
Study involves 3 outpatient visits lasting 2-3 hours each, and one 15-hour overnight admission to the Clinical Research Unit at UVA. The study will include blood draws and a transvaginal ultrasound.
