Official Trial Title
A feasibility study to examine the impact of a remotely monitored exercise intervention on cardiorespiratory/muscular fitness and fatigue in patients with metastatic castrate-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) undergoing treatment with androgen-deprivation
Study Description

The University of Virginia Cancer has a research study for adult patients who have metastatic castrate-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) and are planning to start hormone shots and hormone pills for their treatment.

Men with advanced prostate cancer who receive ADT and ARSI to treat their cancer often feel tired. This can lead to them not being able to take all of their medication in the right way. This may lower how well their treatment works over time. However, exercising can help people feel less tired and keep muscle strength.

The goal of the study is to find out how many men who are being treated for mCSPC finish one of two exercise programs and to see how much they liked the study. The other goals are to learn:
• How much exercise people in each group do for the study
• If doing the exercise changes their fitness level and/or muscle strength
• What relationship doing exercise might have on feeling tired during cancer treatment

People in this study will be randomized (like a flip of a coin) to one of two groups: Arm A: A cycling group or Arm B: A walking group. They will not be able to choose which group they are in. People in Arm A will be given an exercise bike that they may keep. Everyone will be given fitness trackers that they may keep. Everyone must agree to talk with the study team using phone calls, texts, and/or email.

Everyone in the study will be asked to:
• Finish baseline testing
• Finish 1-2 training sessions at UVA
• Complete 12 weeks of exercise at home
• Come back to UVA for end of study testing and an interview
• Take surveys at multiple time points
• Participants may provide blood for research (optional).

Study-related procedures are given at no cost.

Compensation

Everyone in the study will be paid $200 if they finish the baseline visit and $300 if they finish the last study visit. Payments are made by check. Everyone will be given fitness trackers that they may keep. People in Arm A will be given an exercise bike that they may keep.
