THERAPEUTIC STRATEGIES FOR MICROVASCULAR DYSFUNCTION IN TYPE 1 DIABETES
Study Description

The Division of Endocrinology seeks adults ages 18 to 40 years with type 1 diabetes for a research study. The purpose of the study is to learn more about how a medicine called Trulicity or exercise training impact cardiovascular health and blood sugar control.

You may be eligible for this study if you have type 1 diabetes and are otherwise healthy and do not smoke.

Study involves
- Taking a weekly study medication, placebo, or participating in exercise training (three 1-hour sessions per week for 14 weeks). Participants are randomly assigned to 1 of these 3 treatments.
- 3 outpatient visits lasting ~1 to 1 ½ hours
- 3 outpatient visits lasting ~20 minutes
- 2 outpatient admissions lasting ~ 7-10 hours

All groups: Three of these visits require blood draws and two require intravenous (IV) medications. All visits are during the week. The study will take about 14 weeks to complete.

Study-related exams, laboratory tests, medication, and exercise training are provided at no cost.

Compensation
