Katherine Forkin, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist whose clinical practice focuses on caring for patients requiring general surgery and liver transplantation. Her research interests include medical education, gender and bias in medicine and quality improvement. In addition to her clinical and research work, Forkin directs a boot camp course for new residents starting their anesthesiology residency program at UVA and also serves on the UVA Anesthesiology Wellness Committee.
Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Forkin completed her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and psychology at UVA. She attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine before returning to Charlottesville to complete her anesthesiology training, acting as chief resident from 2014 to 2015. Prior to joining the faculty full time in 2016, Forkin also completed a fellowship in medical education as well as specialty training in liver transplantation at UVA.
In her free time, Forkin enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and dog and cheering on the Hoos at UVA men’s basketball games.
