As the associate director for community outreach and engagement, Wendy Cohn, M Ed, PhD, leads UVA Health's efforts to prevent cancer, reduce the cancer burden, and improve cancer health equity in our service areas. She convenes the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center's community advisory council, which provides recommendations and feedback to the ECCCC. Dr. Cohn works extensively with the community to address identified needs and provide support for activities that address cancer risk factors, screening, and survivorship.

Dr. Cohn is a professor of public health sciences, with expertise in program planning and evaluation, implementation science, survey research, qualitative methods, and community-engaged research. She has served as principal investigator or co-investigator on numerous federally funded grants, including the development of a cancer family health history decision-support tool integrated into an electronic medical record, internet-based interventions for distress in cancer patients, and increasing cancer screening in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).
