This year-long commitment gives local adults and college students an opportunity to learn about healthcare by assisting staff, visitors, and patients with non-medical tasks. To qualify, you must have strong communication skills, be able to follow direction, accept supervision, comply with policies and procedures, exhibit interest and enthusiasm, and work independently.
Volunteers must be over 18.
The Steps to Becoming a Volunteer
Step 1: Fill out the application
Step 2: After you submit your application, we'll contact you to schedule an interview. Bring :
- Your immunization records, including any current flu vaccination info
- $20 cash/check for your uniform
- A valid driver’s license
Step 3: Prior to your orientation:
- Read the UVA Health Prince William Health Auxiliary Handbook
- Complete our online orientation and quiz. Be sure to bring your quiz and forms below to your scheduled in-hospital orientation.
- Orientation packet
Step 4: Training will be arranged by the volunteer office.
Step 5: Begin volunteering for a minimum of 100 hours or one year of service.
