Project ECHO at UVA

Project ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) helps democratize medical knowledge and develops specialty care capacity in underserved communities. At UVA, Project ECHO programs use Zoom® videoconferencing technology to connect our specialists to primary care providers around Virginia.

You get in a car crash. Your father has a stroke. Your child can’t breathe in the middle of the night. As you race to the hospital, do you know what to expect? People throughout central Virginia depend on the emergency services at UVA. However severe your injuries or illness, we’re here. We have the expertise and the resources to treat the entire spectrum of patients, from infants to the elderly.

Once you have an appointment at one of our clinics, your referring doctor’s office will give you information about where to go to for your first cancer appointment.

Preparing For Your First Cancer Appointment

Get Your Scans

We will need to see any available:

  • Scans (CT, PET, or other imaging)
  • Biopsy slides
  • Doctors' notes related to your diagnosis

Have your referring doctor send these items to our Cancer Center. Or bring a copy (CD, DVD for imaging; slides for biopsies) with you.
